Extending our spring 2020 fundraiser
Thanks to the generosity of donors, we successfully reached our goal of $5000 in just 17 days. february 01, 2020: launching our spring 2020 fundraiser
On February 1st, 2020, SnehaCares Junior Board Members launched the Spring 2020 Fundraiser with an initial fundraising goal of $5000, to go towards the new sanitary pad machine project. This new vocational center will not only provide employment for at least 3-4 young adults, but also provide low cost sanitary pads to hundreds of young girls and women living with HIV. September 2018: Inauguration of shiloh tailoring unit, Bangalore.
Shiloh Tailoring Unit was inaugurated on September 8, 2018. Young adults, children and volunteers attended the inauguration.
December 2017: Holiday Party and FundRaiser at JetExe Aviation, Sacramento.
On December 16, 2017, JetExe Aviation services and SnehaCares jointly held a holiday party at JetExe Aviation Services, Sacramento, California. About 200 people attended the holiday party. We presented SnehaCares and the work we do in Bangalore, India, held silent auctions and raised awareness of HIV among children in India.
September 2017: Vocational Training, Bangalore.
Shine On Candle Making Unit also serves as a vocational training center for young adults with HIV and young adults from other local institutions for under privileged young adults. In September, 2017, about 20 young adults participated in a three-day vocational training course. Madhuri Rao and Dr. Neha Shah, two skilled and generous women, dedicated their time and energy to train the young adults in chocolate making, decoupaging, quilling and other arts and crafts.
August 2017: Inauguration of Shine-On Candle Making Unit, Bangalore.
On August 13, 2017, the 1700 square feet Shine-On Candle Making Unit was inaugurated. The inauguration was attended by several Camillian priests, children from Sneha Care Home and Snehadaan family and friends.
December 2016: Awareness walk in Lafayette Reservoir, Lafayette.
SnehaCares organized an awareness walk in Lafayette Reservoir on December 16, 2016. About 65 volunteers participated in the three-mile walk. We talked about the prevalence of HIV among children in India and the treatment and care currently available. We also discussed the mission of SnehaCares, which is to set up vocational centers and provide safe and friendly environment to work and be creative.
September 2016: Officer visit to Snehagram, Krishnagiri.
In September, 2016 Maria Hall and Daniel Hall visited Snehagram in Krishnagiri. Snehagram is a vocational training and rehabilitation center for young adults with HIV under the management of Sneha Charitable Trust. Young adults with HIV between the ages of 13 and 18 live in this campus. Young adults prepare for Secondary and Higher secondary education under National Open School Curriculum at this location. They also learn to use the computer and explore job opportunities. Snehagram campus has 13 acres of land. The young adults also get training in farming the land, cattle and poultry.
August 2016: Officer visit to Snehadaan, Bangalore.
Maria Hall, President of SnehaCares, taught children between the ages 9-12 years an eight-week course on values at Sneha Care Home. This course covered the importance of respect, love, team building, kindness, etc. Sneha Care Home cares for about a hundred children between the ages of 4-12 who were infected with HIV at birth.
August 2016: Kids FundRaiser, New York.
Children between the ages of 9-11 years from the Ecole Internationale de New York participated in a fundraiser. They painted pictures and auctioned them to families and friends to raise money for SnehaCares. The event was organized by 10-year-old Anna Gamburd, the young lady with glasses in the picture.
